SUMMARY
From the creator of Where Dreams Are Reality, Risen Undead, Fire and Frost, Bring on the Demigods, and the Aisthesis roleplays.
We bring you BRONTIDE The year is 2020. Zombie apocalypse hit. The dead have risen. But they aren't the only strange things in this world. There are demigods. One parent was a Greek god. Another was a mortal. They have powers. They have more ways to comprehend and adapt, but even so, they were not prepared for this. No one was. The gods Hermes and Hades have vanished without a trace. Because of this, the dead cannot be accepted into the Underworld. Spirits restlessly roam the banks of the Styx. Their bodies, agitated, rise again and consume the living. The demigods try to fight the dead, but even they are not immune to the sickness, the disease that kills them. Reforms them. It affects them differently, but it is in no way better than the way it affects mortals. Two realities coincide. Mortals can hardly handle zombies. To most of them, demigods are no better. The war rages on while the world falls apart. Who will survive? Will anyone survive at all? Or will the dead reign? |
RULES
|
RACES
Gods and Goddesses
As the name implies, they are the all powerful deities strictly from Greek mythology. Mostly cruel and ambitious, it is wise not to trust them. The gods and goddesses each rule over a sphere of influence (ie: Poseidon is god of the water and earthquakes). The gods and goddesses are cruel rulers driven by ambition, violence, and iron will. They will not pander to their children or to any mortals. They would rather they all grew strong and noble than sheltered and soft. The gods are all fueled by such determinations and they will pick their own sides in the wars. Who they help or hinder depends solely on them. The gods and goddesses have sworn to never interfere with the dealings of their children. They have also sworn never to interfere with the dealings of mortals, for they betrayed the gods and goddesses long ago and forsook them. Demigods A demigod, meaning half-god, is originally a Greek mythological figure whose one parent was a god and whose other parent was human; as such, demigods are human-god hybrids. As they are part god, demigods have many different traits specific of them. They have heightened senses, reflexes, strength, and speed. However, they must keep working at these aspects or they may fade from not being used. Even when their traits fade, they will still have better traits than mortals. Demigods also possess a stronger immune system and a slight immunity to certain poisons. Stronger stuff is needed to make a demigod ill. Demigods also have a longer mortality rate as they age at a slower pace. Most demigods will always look younger than they really are. The average lifespan of a demigod is 310 years. The oldest living demigod was 312. Demigods attain powers over the sphere of influence their god parent reigns over, in a slightly decreased form. Whereas Zeus could conjure up a thousand bolts of lightning to reign down from the sky and wipe out an army, a child of Zeus may be able to conjure fifty at the most. Demigods must be wary of their abilities. If they push themselves to the limits, they could injure or even kill themselves. As all skills, their powers must be developed through consistent training. Demigods carry one specific trait of the gods: arrogance. The majority of demigods will look down upon mortals and won't have much to do with them. In their later years, they may tend to mellow, until about 50/50 like/dislike mortals. Younger ones are more prone to despising humans than older ones. Demigods are very intelligent and not to be taken lightly. Because of their powers, they have an innate instinct towards violence. If they feel threatened or in any form of discomfort, their first reaction will be to cancel out the threat or discomfort by any means necesary. It is wise not to arouse or anger a demigod. Mythicals I am referring to them as mythicals, but this includes all that are neither demigods but not monsters either. This includes satyrs, nymphs, dryads, naiads, centaurs, etc. Monsters Things like chimera, minotaur, empusa, etc belong in the monsters category. Animals Pegasus, wolves, or other animals. Some are companions of the demigods, gods, etc. Some are not. No animal may talk. Hellhounds use telepathy. Demigods may communicate with the animal their god parent presides over, but the animal does not talk back or read minds or anything of that nature. There are no "special items" that allow them to talk either. An example of rping this communication would be: Lily the daughter of Ares went up to the pitbull. "Did you see where Tom went?" The pitbull barked and trotted off towards the street. "He'll show us the way," Lily told the others. Humans Purely mortals. Humans are aware of the existence of demigods and zombies and seek to destroy both races equally as both are seen as threats. There is a 50/50 percentage of people who despise/accept demigods. Zombies The dead that have come back to life. (more explained in detail in the zombies paragraph below) |
Roles
Hunter of Artemis
A virgin girl specially chosen to hunt with Artemis. She is granted eternal life as a reward. She may never fall in love or take a man. To do so would mean the loss of her immortality and banishment from the hunters. Team A member on a team may have any sort of role, even some of the roles listed below. Each team has a different set of roles based on the individual's abilities. See TEAMS below for more details. Beast Tamer One who tames the animals, wether normal or mythical, to serve as companions to humans and demigods. Zombie Hunter A loner, sometimes travels with one other, whose only goal is to hunt the zombies. They don't settle very long, travel light, and take the roads less travelled, stumbling through dangerous territories to slaughter the dead. Guardian One whose purpose is to guard and protect, either a small group or a single person. They are willing to give up their lives for another. Usually, Guardians are people specially chosen and trained by a god or goddess for no other purpose than to protect the person the God or Goddess ordains them to protect. Medic A doctor or healer of some sort. Usually travels with a group, but may venture alone, helping whoever they come across. Soldier Navy, Air Force, Marines, Army: they are military personnel who follow orders. Most of those orders involve killing zombies, creating safe havens, guarding important areas, and rescuing survivors. |
ZOMBIES
Zombies
Zombies are dead that have come back to life. Even if you die of normal causes, you will return to life as a zombie. The only way to prevent that is to have someone remove your brain before or after your death. A zombie's bite is highly dangerous as there is a special venom secreted from their teeth that will kill its victim. This usually happens in a couple of minutes, but some may take a few hours to die. After a person is bit, they will feel tired and weak. It is shortly followed by extreme pain throughout the body. Their temperature will rise and fall drastically and sporadically. Then they will begin coughing and vomiting blood, followed by more intense agony. The pupils will contract to slits, while the color of their eyes turns white. Their skin will also take on an ashen color. Then they will die. After a few minutes up to a few hours, they will begin to twitch and rise up as zombies. Zombies can be somewhat controlled by children of Hades, but there is a limit to the length at which they can be controlled. Zombies are very fast and strong. They are slightly blind but have a very good sense of hearing and respond to it. They cannot smell. Zombies are rather quiet unless they are very near their prey, within at least five feet. They are known to sneak up on their victims and attack. Weaknesses Their major weakness is a hit or heavy blow to the skull. Sometimes, gunshots will work. The goal is to completely destroy the brain. It is the only way to get them to stop. Zombies feel no pain. Extreme temperature may slow them down, cutting off their limbs may slow them down. It will not inhibit them due to any pain they feel, only that their bodies will become either burned away, frozen solid, or they will just be incapacitated and can't move. Zombies will stop at nothing to get to their prey. Since they feel no pain, they will take whatever extreme measures it costs, even if it means severing their own limbs or breaking all their bones. Cure There is no known cure. The Infected An Infected person takes a much longer time to turn into a zombie. The Infected do not have to be bit in order to be infected by the zombie's 'disease'. These Infected are called "the people who spontaneously die." They will waste away under the affects of the disease until they are finally consumed by it. Usually the people that are merely Infected are demigods. In all cases, becoming a mere Infected instead of turning into a zombie right away, is extremely rare. You will know you are an Infected by the fact that all the symptoms of turning into a zombie occur to you at a very slow rate. IF YOU ARE BITTEN, it will take humans ten minutes to die. it will take demigods thirty minutes to die. Being bitten is not the same as being one of the Infected. If you wish to be Infected, talk to Dread. |
TEAMS
Teams are formed when more than three people band together.
Teams can have any names. They aren't always called teams either. They can be called Clans, Packs, Groups, etc. They usually have a distinguishing name, such as the Terminators. Each team has different roles. These roles are usually assigned based on an individual's skills. The only role that is the same throughout all teams is the leader's role, though even that can have a different name (like captain, or chief, etc). Teams can take up their own territory and set a base, or they can be nomadic. Each team has its own rules. Some may permit the killing of people outside the team, some may demand proof of loyalty before new members join, etc. Not everyone has to be in a team, but it is recommended. Teams may occasionally fight each other. If you want to create a team, talk to Dread. To start a team, you must have at least three other people as a part of it. You will need to pm a message to Dread with the following information: Team Name Territory Basic Rules Leader Members and their Roles |
